yeh, my favs off american paradox are cult of subteraininan, velvet alley, uncoil coz of the ace guitar solos they play together and an american paradox. erm...carlos99, i think ataris san dimas high school.... came out long before strung out released element of sonic defiance.
sn dimas was on the ataris release they did on fat in 98 and then again on their "blue skies, broken hearts...next 12 exits" album on kung fu.
Strung out released "element..." in 2000...even though dave will hate me for saying it but by what you're saying its more like strung out ripping off ataris.

I agree to a degree...except I am not close minded to the point where I only like certain types of music...I make an effort to listen and appreciate all forms...and I do genuinly like a lot of stuff...I enjoy pop punk loads...but mainly in the summer,as it seems to be more fitting with the party mood etc.
I like some hc too,but like everything else it becomes too samey(actually hc becomes too samey after the shortest amount of time)...the main thing is the bullshit associated within liking certain styles...on who is the most hardcore and who likes the newest bands...its pretentious when hardcore people do it,its always happened with pop punk bands and its just funny when nu-metallers do it.
It will never go away though..I remember people raving on about greenday...then as soon as they become successful they were branded sell outs...despite the fact the single they were accused of selling out with,was actually written when billy joe was 15.............
As for the punk crew being the most friendly.....the older ones definately are....but the young ones are just as elitist as anyone...and saying that..its a generation thing....no doubt if the staind fans etc are still around in ten years they will be just the same.
And the only time I usually get to play stuff I personally like is if someone else asks for it...it is very rare I will put something on for myself....and I have made a concious effort to play requests for you and your friends...as I realised that I tended to neglet to do that at Hollydeffs
to some extent pop punk's the sound of the summer. it is to some of the minority what ibiza anthems are to the majority. it's happy music. whereas nothing compliments the miserable winter better than dark dingy miserable music (radiohead an tha'). notice how at this stage of the year, the bit just between winter and summer noone's sure what to play. in fact noone really seems to be playing anything currently. i'm really looking forward to summer - it's shit in limbo.

Dancing To The Siknotes - If I hadn't danced to The Siknotes, no-one else would have...which would have then been boring. It's called supporting a band. Honestly, I'm not into the music they play but, unlike people who didn't like Left To Yesterday, I still supported instead of standing at the back and then saying they were shit on a forum.
One Car Pile-up - Call me sentimental but OCP played at the first gig I ever went to. This was the main reason I went. To be honest, I couldn't remember what they sounded like, but had an ace time first time round and so I went to this gig. They played well and were tight and entertaining but, if they had an album I wouldn't buy it...
And the problem with me having a good time is??? Nothing.
I thought Yeter Pang were pants most of the time but danced in support.
Plus, if you had a problem with it, Dave or Ellis, why didn't you tell me on the night?

PS - none of you know shit about Yidcore or Liquid Car Crash...two ace pop-punk bands...I own albums by both and will lend them to either Mr. Habgood or Mr Ellis as a gesture of emo good-will. I'll be crying into my Pringle tank top as I hand them over.
People's musical taste will obviously evolve with the newer genres they are exposed to. Ostrasizing a particular section of the "scene" for these tastes is obviously counter productive, as is claiming ones styles superiority. Punk is as much an ethos as it is a musical style, I would be confidnet in stating that Strung Out don't aurally or ideologically adhere to the original definition of punk- but they are still classed as punk.
I don't care what genres of music any of you listen to and you shouln't care about my tastes. My actions and decisions however have little relevance to these taste so i would appreciate peoples condemnation to be justified before personal insults are forged.
Dave, i have always been as honest and accomodating towards you as i find fit, so your dismissal of my achievements as pretensios comes as something of a slight surpise. I love lagwagon, for me they are the best band I've ever heard and seen!! Big wig are pretty amazing aswell... belvedere are dead cool... beerbong kick ass... No use for a name, no fun at all, anti-flag, mock orange, midtown, millencollin's new album is ace, I need to get hold of some bollweevils stuff 'cos they're pretty cool.. As friends rust are pretty good aswell.. Strung out are ace but I like their older stuff. Tghe hippos are ace for cheering up and that 'cos they are dead happy and rocky at the same time.. ace.. Fridays gig was ace, UFK played dead well, I was impressed considering they got a new bassist a week before the gig.. [img]smile.gif[/img] OCP rocked It's always a treat to see them play. I hope people liked us.

I would appreciate a compilation cd being made up by someone featuring their favourite tracks by various bands...numbered and with tracklistings,because apart from the surface...it is a genre that has passed me by...that way I have always got something to cater for you with...
I just want to clarifythe whole request thing....
We have all made compilation tapes in the past and on average..you tend to fit 12 songs onto one side of a ninety minute tape...which makes 24 in total...times that by 3 to equate the ammount of time I have at a rock night and that makes 72....
On average I get to play around 80-90 songs per night realistically...the average crowd at Park lane is around 130....so if I take one request from each person...I cant play them all.I know that doesnt happen ever....but I do get a hell of a lot of requests...so I try to limit it to 2 or 3 per group if you will (circles of friends)So believe me,when I have said I dont have time for something...I am not bullshitting,I am being honest...which is something you dont get with many djs.Its always been my policy to tell the truth...and if I ever do say I will play a track and I don't,that is because I have over estimated what time I have left.....
I just wanted to explain that to people..but if someone could help me with a compilation(again I stress,it NEEDS a tracklisting)then I will be more than happy to cater for you....plus it gives me a chance to listen to stuff at home that I dont get sent much of...largely because punk labels have tended to be unresponsive to my requests to be added to mailing lists.

punk rock ethos will never die, cos its self sustaining, it encourages young kids to get into the scene from a young age due to media exposure to a certain degree, its just a shame if these young kids get caught up with the "powerful" dudes along the line, they end up subscribing to the emo/hardcore shit that will eventually alienate them from everyone, except those who encourage them, and who are usually pretentious wankers, who make themselves feel powerful by quoting reels of dogma, which they probably stole form thier local librarys copy of chomsky, i realise this post makes no sense, but hey ifve got unresolved issues too!
